Tips for choosing a quality
Wedding Florist
and the sad stories of imaginary "Studio Florists"
Choose your Wedding Florist / Decor designer with care......
Flowers make a significant impact on your venue, changing a tired looking
room or space into a bright and inviting place. Adding exactly the right touch
to a brides look and a sparkle to your guests environment.
Many wedding days have become tragedies through a bride or groom choosing an
amateur freelance or "studio florist". This type of floral designer is often
cheaper in the short term, but they can cause untold stress and add extra hidden
costs. They are often untrained (professional florists study for up to 4 years
at college) and inexperienced, they typically work from their van, garage, or
apartment. Amateur freelance florists often have a great looking website to lure
the unsuspecting but have no back up in the event of illness or other challenge.
They claim "not to do retail" often a euphemism for having no real
business address or business license.
The horror stories of brides let down
at the last moment as the apartment or "studio" florist falls ill, looses
confidence or worse are far more frequent that we would wish. Sometimes
disappointment is inevitable when the flowers you choose do not appear; instead
you find cheap or tired flowers, poor design and unreliable or unprofessional
service all of which can destroy your special day. If you are offered a
seductively low price for your wedding decor you should always check carefully.
These sad situations have become so frequent that
they make up over 15% of weddings each year. We would prefer that no Bride would
have to go through this and we hope you will choose carefully.
Mandy and her team have had to rescue many brides just because
their friend or amateur florist let them down at the last minute.
Usually this costs a bride twice; once for the failed "Studio" floral designer
and once for a professional to pick up the pieces. Please don't let this happen to you.
Your wedding day is a very special day and you deserve for it to go as smoothly
as possible without doubling the cost of your decor and floral services or the
added stress of
getting things right at the last minute.
Your professional florist should be able to give you advice on flower choices for each season and if
they have one, preferably visit their Store or "Studio".
Mandy's Store and Boutique is based in San Francisco at 1738 Union Street
between Gough and Octavia and she is always delighted to talk to a bride or
groom on the phone before any meeting.
